Why This Matters
92% of Indian commerce is in-person - general trade + modern trade. That's not changing.
Quick commerce? 2%. E-commerce? 7%. Real India shops at the counter.
But the counter runs on paper, memory, and broken workflows. No one's built proper tech for it - because it's hard. Thin margins. No staff. Tech feels foreign.
We build for this reality. Most advanced, yet acceptable. Affordable, yet admirable.
The thesis:
UPI gave rails. Paper QR gave reach. Next decade is device-led. Tohands owns device + payment + OS for in-person commerce.
The Role
Do what Asian Paints did for paint. Make Tohands the default for running a retail business.
You'll own:
- Brand positioning - Tohands = everything a shop needs
- Full-funnel marketing - content, performance, community, offline, regional languages
- Category creation - "smart device for shops" doesn't exist yet, you'll make it real
- Funnel efficiency - leads, conversion, CAC
- Brand recall in Tier 2/3 India
- A small team you'll build and lead
